ArmInfo.Azerbaijan's President urged UN Security Council to respect its own decisions on Nagorno Karabakh.
"Non-settlement of the conflict does not earn the UN Security Council any honor, as the Council has adopted four resolutions, which have been unfulfilled for more than 20 years", Aliyev said at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development for the nine months of 2016 and future objectives, TASS informs. The Azerbaijani President stressed that the international community should at least respect its own decisions.
The Azerbaijani President has also expressed surprise related to the recent statement made by the UN Secretary of State John Kerry about the sides' unwillingness to settle Karabakh conflict. "To blame Azerbaijan in non-settlement of the conflict is at least unjust", the Azerbaijani President said. He stressed that the presidents of the USA, Russia and France have repeatedly stated that status quo in the conflict is unacceptable. According to Aliyev with the existence of such a serious statement, blaming equally both sides in non-settlement of the conflict is simply support to the policy of Armenia. "We do not accept such statements. We believe these statements should be corrected soon at the highest level," he added. "Otherwise, the mediating mission can be called into doubt."
To recall, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry recently said in Washington that no favorable conditions have been created yet for settlement of the Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He thinks the resolution of the problem is impossible now first of all because the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia are not prepared for it.
