ArmInfo. On November 4 at 2:00 PM, the General Jurisdiction Court of the Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts of Yerevan will hold another court hearing in the criminal case against Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Sedrak Arustamyan, Artur Dallakyan, and a group of other individuals. The Prosperous Armenia Party reported this, emphasizing the groundlessness of the charges brought against Tsarukyan and the others.
"During the court hearing, the issue of changing the preventive measure applied to Gagik Tsarukyan will be discussed. We are convinced that Gagik Tsarukyan and the other individuals involved in this case as defendants are the subjects of political persecution. "In our opinion, this fact requires no further evidence," the PAP stated.
At the same time, the political party considered it important to highlight one fundamental legal circumstance. Specifically, the preliminary investigation has been completed, the criminal case has been referred to court, and there is no longer any reasonable need to keep Gagik Tsarukyan in custody.
"Considering all the above circumstances, we expect the court to make a balanced, fair, and legal decision replacing the preventive measure applied to Gagik Tsarukyan in the form of arrest with another option. There is no alternative to Gagik Tsarukyan's immediate release," the PAP added.
As a reminder, the investigation accuses Gagik Tsarukyan of acts under several articles of the Criminal Code concerning fraud, extortion, and money laundering. The head of the Multi Group concern, Sedrak Arustamyan, and seven other people are also involved in this case. The Investigative Committee believes that Tsarukyan and other individuals falsified customs declarations and documents, resulting in major damage to the state or the structures involved (including episodes of theft of property worth approximately 8.1 billion drams). On July 7, 2026, a court in Yerevan arrested Gagik Tsarukyan for a period of 2 months. The politician's defense tried to appeal this decision. In October 2026, the Compulsory Enforcement Service of Armenia, based on the decisions of the Anti-Corruption Court, imposed a large-scale seizure of property and assets associated with Tsarukyan. About 29 real estate properties, 33 vehicles, and 488 units of movable property were seized. A separate ban on changes in ownership was imposed on Tsarukyan's properties in the coastal area of Lake Sevan. Seizures were also imposed on shares in 27 different companies of Tsarukyan himself, as well as on the shares and stocks of 40 legal entities that are with him are interconnected.
