ArmInfo. The Director of the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) responded to the Azerbaijani official's statement and confirmed Gandzasar's Armenian origins. He considers it pointless to continue discussing this topic. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this from the parliamentary rostrum during government hour on September 16.

He noted that if anyone is interested in the origins of a particular manuscript or the monastery complex mentioned in it, they should consult the manuscript, the original source. And the Republic of Armenia, according to the Prime Minister, has done this through the most competent official.

At the same time, he called it pointless to prove Gandzasar's Armenian origins to Azerbaijan. "This is an impossible task, but this has not changed, does not change, and will not change anything for us," Pashinyan said.

At the same time, he reiterated that peace is valuable for both Armenia and Azerbaijan, and peace must be treated with care. "And what we saw from the Azerbaijani official is unacceptable and incomprehensible, but on the other hand, we must continue to care for peace, as I stated on August 8, 2025," he emphasized.

It should be noted that late last week, it became known that representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in Baku visited occupied Artsakh. They visited Shushi and Stepanakert, where the Azerbaijani occupation regime is erasing all Armenian presence under the tacit encouragement of the so-called civilized international community. They then visited the Armenian monasteries of Dadivank and Gandzasar, listening in awe to the tales of Azerbaijani presidential aide Himke Dajiyev, claiming they were Albanian shrines. Among the participants was the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Magdalena Grono, who also witnessed the show by Azerbaijani presidential aide Himket Hajiyev. Hajiyev, in particular, attempted to accuse Armenia of falsifying history, using mock-ups of ancient manuscripts displayed in the museum of occupied Gandzasar as a tool for this.

Matenadaran Director Ara Khzmalyan, in a conversation with Azatutyun, responded to the Azerbaijani official by stating that there are no blank pages in the Armenian manuscripts. He stated that, given the lack of security and safety, not a single original manuscript was delivered to Gandzasar; only copies were on display there. All the originals, according to Khzmalyan, are kept in the Matenadaran.

"The Matenadaran is ready to show them to any diplomat or ambassador who has even the slightest doubt about their authenticity," the director said.
