RA Anti-Corruption Committee confirms  detention of four Gazprom  Armenia employees

ArmInfo.  The Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia  has confirmed  the detention of four Gazprom Armenia employees on charges related to  bribery.

According to information provided to ArmInfo by the Anti-Corruption  Committee, the criminal investigation has led to the detention of  four company personnel as well as an official from the Urban  Development, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body. According to  the case materials, the individuals are implicated in giving and  receiving bribes to secure favorable technical approvals for  connecting new gas consumers in residential developments. 

These approvals were reportedly granted while safety violations and  regulatory non-compliance in the gas supply process were  ignored.  Four of the detained individuals have been placed in pretrial  detention as a primary measure of restraint. One individual has been  placed under house arrest pending further legal proceedings.
