Armenia`s Deputy FM outlines country`s priorities for COP17 on  biodiversity

ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan participated in a high-level briefing in Nairobi dedicated to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) and delivered a report.

Specifically, he presented the progress of preparatory work for  COP17, as well as the priorities and vision of Armenia's Presidency.  The Deputy Minister emphasized that COP17 will be key in terms of  conducting the first global review of progress in e implementing the  Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), assessing the  outcomes, identifying existing gaps, and determining next steps.   Presenting the priorities of Armenia's presidency, Robert  Abisoghomonian reaffirmed the country's commitment to ensuring an  open, transparent, and inclusive negotiation process based on the  principles of mutual trust, cooperation, and respect.

In conclusion, Abisoghomonian noted that the main challenge facing  the international community is not formulating new aspirations, but  rather the practical implementation of the existing commitments.   According to him, this approach is reflected in the motto of  Armenia's presidency: "Acting for Nature." Recall, COP17 will take  place in Yerevan this October.
