RA NA to continue its discussions on candidate for NA vice-speaker

ArmInfo.  Discussions on the candidacy of the third NA Vice Speaker continued at the August 6 session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

According to current legislation, the right to nominate a candidate  for the third NA Vice Speaker belongs to the faction that receives  the most votes in the elections. The "Strong Armenia" faction has  nominated lawyer Aram Vardevanyan for the position.

"Strong Armenia" faction secretary Tigran Abrahamyan presented the  candidate's biography and career path.

In his speech, Aram Vardevanyan addressed the public debate about  whether opposition factions should participate in the process of  fully forming the National Assembly. "We discussed this issue and  came to the conclusion that we must take on this responsibility. My  dream wasn't to be a member of the National Assembly or deputy  speaker of the National Assembly," he explained, explaining his  reasons for participating in the political process.

The candidate then addressed the domestic political situation,  raising issues of the rule of law and the party's goals.

Vardevanyan is currently answering questions from members of  parliament.

Parliament has already elected Speaker Ruben Rubinyan and two  vice-speakers, Hayk Konjoryan and Vahagn Aleksanyan, nominated by the  ruling Civil Contract faction.
