
ArmInfo.The process of normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia will continue in close coordination with Azerbaijan, according to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' 2026 Action Program. The document notes that ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus remains one of Ankara's top foreign policy priorities.
"The process of normalizing relations with Armenia will continue in close coordination with Azerbaijan. Turkey will also continue to support the peace process between Yerevan and Baku. It is emphasized that for long-term stability and security in the region, the Turkish-Armenian and Azerbaijani-Armenian processes must advance in a coordinated manner," the document, as quoted by APA, states. "Our strategic partnership is intended to contribute to peace, prosperity, and stability in the South Caucasus through bilateral and multilateral initiatives. At the same time, our close coordination and cooperation with Azerbaijan within the framework of regional normalization processes will continue with determination," the document states.
The normalization process between Armenia and Turkey was initiated on December 13, 2021, by then- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. At the time, he emphasized that Ankara would act in coordination with Azerbaijan regarding any steps taken toward normalizing relations with Armenia.
Both sides appointed special representatives to facilitate the process: Serdar K?l?c for Turkey and Ruben Rubinyan for Armenia. While these envoys have held several rounds of negotiations, no major breakthroughs have been achieved to date, with the exception of the launch of direct air cargo and passenger flights between the two countries.
