Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisogomonyan met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding Rosemary DiCarlo to present efforts to further strengthen the peace established in the South Caucasus. The Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service reported that the meeting took place in New York on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
The meeting emphasized the importance of implementing programs aimed at developing transport infrastructure and promoting connectivity in the context of realizing the region's full potential.
The parties discussed the UN-80 reform process. In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the importance of ensuring the continuity of effective work by UN structures within the framework of development cooperation programs, human rights protection, and conflict prevention.
The interlocutors also touched upon the work being carried out in the lead-up to the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be held in Armenia in October, and exchanged views on issues related to international security.
