
ArmInfo. Armenia and France are ready to further deepen cooperation in education. This was announced in Paris during a meeting between Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and French Minister of National Education Edouard Jeffrey.
According to the ministry's press service, Andreasyan presented the main reforms being implemented in Armenia's education system, paying special attention to the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational process. In particular, she highlighted the "AI Generation" educational programs for high school students, STEP.AI, as well as the multi-level educational initiative AI Generation, aimed at training specialists in artificial intelligence, from school to postgraduate education. The Minister also spoke about the ministry's collaboration with the international company OpenAI, through which the ChatGPT Edu tool will be made available to the Armenian educational community. Starting in September, it is planned to provide approximately 50,000 subscriptions to students, teachers, and researchers. In this context, the parties also discussed prospects for exchanging experience between the two countries and implementing possible joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to informal education programs. The parties emphasized the importance of the TUMO educational center's Paris branch, which also places great emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence into educational programs.
French Minister of National Education Edouard Geffrey praised the existing cooperation between the two countries in education, emphasizing that it is based on mutual trust and shared values. He noted the importance of joint programs aimed at developing French language teaching in Armenia, emphasizing that they contribute not only to the dissemination of the language but also to strengthening the multifaceted ties between the two countries. Edouard Geffre also presented initiatives being implemented in the French education system in the field of artificial intelligence, noting that the basics of AI literacy are included in the school curriculum as a separate curriculum component.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the exchange of experience in preschool education and the possibility of implementing joint programs to improve the qualifications of educators.
Noting that preschool education in France has been mandatory and free since 2019, the French Minister of National Education presented the main features of this system.
The Armenian and French ministers also discussed the problem of children's excessive use of social media, emphasizing that appropriate measures and regulatory mechanisms are currently being developed to limit and control schoolchildren's access to social media in order to ensure a safe digital environment for them. Zhanna Andreasyan proposed developing a more systematic and long-term cooperation agenda between the two ministries, intensifying the exchange of experience and organizing mutual study visits.
