ArmInfo. The 3rd International Congress of Armenian Studies will be held from July 22 to 24 at the Matenadaran, the M. Mashtots Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. At its July 9 meeting, the RA government decided to finance this event by reallocating budget funds previously allocated to the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
The rationale for the draft resolution notes that this year's congress will be dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Mkhitar Sebastatsi's birth, significantly increasing the level of international representation, participation, and organizational responsibility. The Congress program will include international grant programs, digital humanities, programs implemented over the past year that promote the development of Armenian studies, collaboration with international Armenian studies departments, manuscript centers, and collections of Armenian written heritage, as well as new publications. A separate scientific session dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Mkhitar Sebastatsi's birth will be organized as part of the Congress. It is planned to submit a proposal for granting the Congress a new status.
World-renowned Armenian scholars, professors, and young foreign scholars have confirmed their participation in the Congress.
In keeping with established tradition, the Congress will also feature an exhibition titled "1 Year of Eternity," centered on a valuable 13th-century manuscript acquired with the support of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The International Congress of Armenian Studies has long since transcended the format of a standalone conference and has become an institutional platform for uniting the scientific, cultural, and foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Armenia.
