ArmInfo. Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), who was detained days earlier and is a prominent businessman, stated that a clearly false and fabricated criminal case has been brought against him. This is stated in his statement, published from the Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary.
"This is a hollow, far-fetched case. My conscience is clear," the politician emphasized.
He noted that Armenia faces inevitable challenges, and difficult times fraught with numerous risks lie ahead. To overcome this situation, Tsarukyan believes, common sense and prudence are essential. "We also urgently need, as I said before the elections and repeat now, internal and public harmony. I say this as the person who suffered the greatest injustice.
The decisions of the Central Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court, the criminal cases, and my arrest are unable to change my worldview and my value system.
Despite all the injustice, I will continue to do my best to benefit my country and my people," the PAP leader noted.
As a reminder, on July 6, the Yerevan Criminal Court of First Instance remanded Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, to two months' detention. On the evening of July 7, the Investigative Committee of Armenia released footage of Gagik Tsarukyan's arrest, which shows NSS officers violently detaining the politician and forcing him to the floor when he offers no resistance. This footage, released by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, provoked a negative reaction in Armenian society. Citizens generally expressed outrage at the methods used to detain the 70-year-old politician, who is accused of economic crimes. Experts called these actions against the politician and businessman a political reprisal that has nothing to do with justice.
