ArmInfo.Moscow expects that the new Armenian government, formed following the elections, will ensure the development of relations with Russia in a spirit of friendship, good neighborliness, mutual respect, and due consideration for each other's interests.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin made this statement during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the Innoprom industrial exhibition, TASS reports.
Mishustin emphasized that Russia remains Armenia's primary foreign trade partner, "despite the turbulence in the global economy." According to the Russian Prime Minister, it is important for Russia that "the Armenian government continues to maintain a favorable climate for Russian investors and ensures the protection of their rights and legitimate interests." He noted that Russia places great importance on humanitarian cooperation with Armenia and suggested "continuing the tradition of holding cultural days, exhibitions, and festivals." Mishustin expressed confidence that, during the "Innoprom" international exhibition, representatives of the Russian and Armenian business communities will identify opportunities for joint projects and establish cooperation.
In turn, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope for the resolution of existing issues and reaffirmed his commitment to developing relations with Russia. He stated that Yerevan is interested in the continued development of ties with Moscow. "Both before and after the elections, we have been committed to the further development of our relations with Russia," the head of the Armenian government said, adding that he expects to resolve the issues between the two sides constructively as a result of the negotiations with Russia. "I hope that, as a result of today's negotiations, we will be able to resolve specific issues," Pashinyan said, noting that Armenia is interested in continued participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and ensuring that EAEU mechanisms "operate as planned."
Recall, Russia has imposed large-scale restrictions on supplies from Armenia. Effective June 12, 2026, Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) has completely banned the import of all "quarantine products" from Armenia into the Russian Federation, as well as the transit through Russian territory. The ban covers approximately 130 EAEU goods, including virtually all fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries, herbs, and flowers. Furthermore, effective June 26, 2026, the agency has suspended the certification and import of all fish products from all Armenian fisheries.
