ArmInfo. The Constitutional Court is expected to do only one thing: to act in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, as stated by Arman Abovyan, a member of the "Prosperous Armenia" (PAP) party, in an interview with journalists outside the Constitutional Court building on June 27.
"It may sound strange, but we have truly ended up in a situation where we are simply expecting the Constitutional Court to act according to the Constitution, rather than being guided by the whims of any particular political force, that is, the authorities. This is our demand," he said.
According to Abovyan, the "brazen behavior" displayed by the authorities in front of citizens during the elections clearly demonstrates that the ruling power has completely lost touch with reality.
"The annulment of votes by the Central Electoral Commission has not caused indifference or despondency among citizens; on the contrary, it has angered them. What the authorities are doing is a mockery. They must clearly realize that they are not currently opposing any specific party—in particular, 'Prosperous Armenia'—but rather the majority of the population of Armenia, who did not cast their votes for them. Whether they like it or not, they can deny it all they want and say whatever they please, they can beat their heads against the wall, but this is exactly how it is. In my subjective opinion, they do not even have the number of votes they so loudly tried to claim," Abovyan stated.
