Political analyst: While Pashinyan pledges peace with Azerbaijan,  Baku continues  promoting the "Western Azerbaijan" project

ArmInfo. While  Nikol Pashinyan continues to assure the public of ongoing peace efforts  with Azerbaijan and highlights domestic improvements like pension  increases, Baku is actively pushing forward its "Western Azerbaijan"  project, which refers to the resettlement of Azerbaijanis in the  sovereign territories of Armenia. Political analyst Karen Igityan  warns of this on his Facebook page.

To substantiate his claims, Igityan pointed to a report presented in  Baku on June 16, 2026, titled "Hate Speech and Falsification of  Historical Facts in Armenian Secondary Schools." He urged observers  to note the individuals behind this presentation. "This is the Center  for Strategic Communications, supported by the administration of  Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, namely the deputy head of the  Center, the head of the "Department of History of Western Azerbaijan"  at the Institute of History and Ethnology of the Azerbaijan Academy  of Sciences, and a member of the  Azerbaijani parliament," the  political scientist noted.

According to Igityan, the report is a clear indication that  Azerbaijan is preparing for a "resettlement" policy in Armenia, which  includes efforts to force changes to Armenian school curricula and  legislation. He noted that the project's organizers have explicitly  stated that: "Recalling the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan  and Armenia, the project director noted the advisability of removing  educational materials containing hate speech against Azerbaijan from  circulation in Armenian schools."

Igityan concluded by stating that  the Pashinyan administration  attempts to dismiss these concerns as merely "opposition-invented  narratives.
