Tsarukyan: Around 50 representatives of "Prosperous Armenia" party  detained

ArmInfo. About 50 representatives of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) have been  detained, as stated by Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik  Tsarukyan  to journalists after the vote.

He expressed his conviction that the pressure being exerted on the  opposition both during the pre-election period and on election day  itself is a manifestation of fear. "Today, about 50 of our people  were taken away. They were taken away so they could not do their  work. People are tired of all this; they want change.  Lies have no  future," Tsarukyan stated.

At the same time, the PAP leader is confident that the opposition has  a chance to win the parliamentary elections. "The chances are  definitely there. I don't know how many votes we will get, but I am  sure we will win—that we have already won. We will find out the rest  later," Tsarukyan noted.

Highlighting the primacy of public welfare over political divisions,  Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan stated that the  socio-economic well-being of Armenian citizens must take precedence  over party affiliation.

"There should be smiles on people's faces, peace must be established,  and the country must develop," Tsarukyan told reporters on June 7.  "Citizens deserve to be satisfied with their lives, and in this  sense, a person's party alignment is irrelevant. I did not enter this  political process out of personal necessity—I need neither position,  recognition, nor wealth. My heart simply aches to see our people in  such a difficult situation today."

Tsarukyan pointed to pressing socio-economic challenges as his  primary motivation for participating in the elections. "We cannot  allow this to continue; today, citizens face severe healthcare  hurdles, and 18% struggle with basic nutrition. My sole objective is  for our people to prosper and for regular citizens to return to a  dignified, stable life," he concluded.

In this regard, he recalled that the current authorities of Armenia  promised the people peace, but ultimately led the country into an  economic war with Russia. "And if there is no economy, there is no  state. People will become impoverished and lose even what they have  now. However, the people of Armenia will get what they deserve. We  were the first to adopt Christianity; God will not turn away from us.  I am confident that good changes await us," the PAP leader concluded.
