At  60th plenary session of  CIS IPA, NA Vice Speaker addresses  issues of regional peace, border stability, and unblocking of  communications

ArmInfo.At the 60th plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, NA Vice Speaker Hakob Arshakyan addressed issues of regional peace, border stability, and the unblocking of communications.

According to the NA press service, in his speech, Arshakyan touched  on regional developments, noting that the Washington Declaration,  adopted on August 8, 2025, and signed by the leaders of Armenia and  Azerbaijan with the participation of the US President, marked the  beginning of a new stage in  establishing peace and developing  regional cooperation in the South Caucasus. According to him, the  declaration reaffirmed the parties' commitment to the fundamental  principles of the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Declaration, including  mutual recognition of independence, sovereignty, territorial  integrity, and the inviolability of borders, as well as the exclusion  of the use of force and mutual hostility.

"Today, the practical results of the peace process are already  visible: people are no longer dying on the border, which is an  important foundation for strengthening stability, predictability, and  mutual trust in the region," Arshakyan noted.

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia also  underscored the importance of the agreements reached on unblocking  transport communications. He pointed out that the Washington  Declaration also initiated the TRIP project on transport  communications, which will be implemented in Armenia in full  compliance with the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty,  and jurisdiction.  According to Arshakyan, the full opening of  communications and the advancement of the "Crossroads of Peace"  initiative open up new opportunities for expanding regional trade,  diversifying transit routes, attracting investment, and developing  the logistics, industrial, and tourism sectors.

"These initiatives are designed to ensure mutual economic benefit for  all countries in the region and foster new environment for  cooperation based on peace and mutual respect," he emphasized. Hakob  Arshakyan thanked partner countries, including CIS member states, for  their support of these initiatives and reaffirmed Armenia's readiness  to continue advancing the agenda of peace and regional cooperation.
