ArmInfo. Armenia could become an arena for clashing interests between Iran and the US. Narek Karapetyan, a member of the political council of the Strong Armenia party, stated this live on his Facebook page, demonstrating the location of the strategic road along which the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) is supposed to run.
Karapetyan noted that the Iranian Armed Forces (AF) are located literally 40 meters from the location of Trump's route. "Now imagine this situation: on one side of this road is a private American company, and on the other, the Iranian Armed Forces.
In the last two months alone, we've witnessed Iran strike American military bases in Iraq, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar. What do you think will happen in the future if their relations deteriorate and an American company is here?" the party council member asked.
Karapetyan expressed his belief that this could escalate into a conflict, in which Iran would likely target the American company and strike it. "Therefore, we tell our compatriots that Armenia needs a guaranteed peace, in which this guarantor would be not only the United States, but also, for example, Iran itself. The logic of this road also makes sense for Armenia to need multiple guarantors of peace," the Strong Armenia party council member concluded. As a reminder, the declaration establishing the "Trump Route" was signed by the leaders of Armenia, the United States, and Azerbaijan on August 8, 2025, during a meeting at the White House. The 12-page document outlines the project's main objectives and operating mechanisms.
Among other things, the document emphasizes Armenia's intention to authorize and support the creation of the TRIPP Development Company. The company is expected to be responsible for developing the TRIPP project, receiving an initial development right for a period of 49 years. Armenia intends to offer the United States a 74% stake in the TRIPP Development Company, retaining 26%. This partnership is expected to be extended for an additional 50 years, with an additional ownership stake granted to the Armenian government, bringing its stake to 49%.
